Next up at Center Stage Theatre is Roger Bean’s jukebox musical “The Marvelous Wonderettes: Dream On.” It’s 1969 and prom queen Cindy Lou, tomboy Betty Jean, goody two-shoes Missy and class clown Suzy are back to throw a retirement party for their favorite teacher, set to the greatest girl-group hits of the 60’s (“Gimme Some Lovin,” “It’s Your Thing”). Act Two finds the girls back together for their 20 years reunion. Classic pop and rock hits of the ‘70s (“We are Family,” “I Will Survive”) provide the perfect soundtrack for these devoted girlfriends. A cabaret-style performance to benefit.
